A chef who has just won his first Michelin star is found dead in his kitchen. What the Pennacs discover about his private life is at odds with his Gordon Ramsay-like public persona. Concerned about Hannibal's health, the Pennacs put him on a diet.
I was delayed on this and the following episode by unforeseen circumstances: (1) Nikse released Subtitle Edit 4.0.7. After installing the new version the subtitles for Mort d'un chef went out of sync by about 10 minutes. I also noticed the waveform now flowed in a jumpy, arhythmic way, making accurate placement of subtitles almost impossible. It took a couple days to completely resync everything, and then I reverted to version 4.0.6; (2) I was away from home for a week on family business. It's been a busy summer.

The woman who delivers Hannibal's dinner (17'30") doesn't have a name and the role isn't credited, so I'm calling her Livreur, which means 'delivery driver.'
Hannibal says en soute a gens (21'11") to describe a guy he once arrested. It literally means 'the people's hold,' which I take to mean 'in custody.' 'A guest of the people' seems to fit here.

Tu connais la musique, 'you know the music' (22'24"), translates as 'You know the drill' (or 'you know how things work').
Pont du Diable, Devil's Bridge (33'45"), is a UNESCO-listed historic landmark from the 11th century, 15 miles/24 km northwest of Montpellier. It is one of three Devil's Bridges in the Herault department. It has been a TV location before, Meurtres a Le Pont du Diable comes to mind. It doesn't make sense why Annabelle, Pauline, and Claire haven't heard of it.

At 38'10" Hannibal says of Tristan, il c'est un balance. Sonia is taken aback by this because one of the meanings of balance is informer/snitch/rat. Hannibal quickly explains he means Tristan's astrological sign, because Balance is Libra.
Hannibal saying Annabelle may have a phone glitch is funny (40'13") because 'glitch' is pepin, which is also the prosecutor's name.
SDF (40'32") stands for sans domicile fixe, which means 'homeless person.'
Pantalonnade (43'35") means 'slapstick' or 'farce.' I chose the latter meaning because there's no physical aspect to what Hannibal is doing. The word may derive from the baggy pants characteristic of burlesque comics.
Hannibal again needles Pepin by joking he is a credit to his name (47'03"), which in addition to 'glitch' can also mean problem, snag, and worry.
Human remains discovered in a submerged car turn out to be those of Hannibal's friend and former partner Julian Blomet, a lieutenant missing since 2001. Hannibal's past relationship with Sonia Ayed comes out during the investigation; the two are taken off the case. Annabelle is enamored of Sonia's new deputy, Nicolas. Louis's manga-themed birthday part is approaching, and while helping plan it Hannibal discovers an important clue about Julian's death.
